Child Care Health and Development

So, you have recently been blessed with a child. As you watch your bundle of joy grow up, there are a few things that you need to take care of. A new born baby may appear to be small, but it indeed is a very big responsibility. As it is, a new born child is unable to take care of itself. It therefore, requires proper attention and care from the parents, in order to lead a healthy life.

When a child is born, its immune system is pretty weak. As a result, it is quite normal for a child to get sick often, in its initial years.  As your child develops his/her immune system, the frequency of getting ill, reduces drastically.

However, till the immune system of your child develops properly, you will have to take a few steps. The following are a few steps, which you need to take, for the proper upbringing of your child:

  1. Breast milk is the best form of food for a new born baby. Do not avoid feeding the baby with breast milk at least for the first few months. Breast milk not only helps the child in enhancing the immune system, but it also considerably lowers the chances of the mother developing breast cancer.
  2. Proper hygiene measures are an important feature of childcare. Do make sure, that you wash your hands properly, before you touch the baby.
  3. Make sure, that the baby’s diapers are cleaned properly. Use good disinfectants for this purpose. Also, make sure, that you dry them properly before use.
  4. Proper sanitation for your child is also a very important feature of child care. Change the diaper of your child, as soon as you know that your bundle of joy has dropped a bundle of poop.
  5. Once your child has passed the breast feeding stage and is ready for exploring different tastes, you need to consult your doctor, to see to it, that you do not miss out on important aspect of the diet of your child.
  6. Do take care, to see to it, that the baby food cans and bottles are properly closed. They should be properly labeled and properly stored. Also, baby spoons and bowls are properly rinsed; better if bleached.
  7. Vaccination is an aspect which you should never miss. As it is, your child would need vaccinations for different diseases at different stages.  Make sure, that you do not forget to get your baby the vaccination that it duly deserves.
  8. Also, make sure, that your child is wearing light fitted clothes, preferably cotton. This would help a great deal in avoiding rashes.
  9. Always avoid giving drinks with caffeine and high sugar content. Avoid soft drinks on all accounts. Also make sure that your child is properly hydrated.

The above mentioned steps are some of the basic measures that you need to take as a parent of a child. As you gradually and dutifully play the role of a loving parent, you will soon know what the best is for your child.
