Commercial health insurance has proved to be of great help, for those, who are not covered by the government health insurance provisions. Commercial health insurance or private health insurance refers to any kind of health insurance, which is covered by an organization, other than a government body.
A major difference between government health insurance and commercial health insurance is that, while government health insurance have standard provisions for each plan, commercial health insurance may differ in terms of benefits as well as the premium payable.
Now, while in case of people working in federal state, or government bodies get covered by the respective government bodies and the required premium being borne by them as well; things are different in case of commercial health insurance. There are many types of commercial health plans which are available, which can be availed by you and even if you are covered by a government health insurance plan, you can still go for a commercial health insurance plan, if it suits you. The most common amongst all the commercial health insurance plans, is the indemnity plan. They would cover a limited set of ailments, along with limited healthcare cover. However, you have the freedom of approaching any healthcare provider.
Another common health insurance plan is the Preferred Provider Organizations. Under this plan, an insured person is provided with a list of preferred doctors, as well as healthcare service providers, where the insured person can approach. The insured person can approach a doctor or a medical practitioner, outside the service net, but in case, if he does so, the, in that case, he will have to bear with a portion of the medical expenses incurred.
Apart from these, there are other health insurance plans, such as Health Maintenance Organizations. You can avail them to your own benefit, by making provisions for unforeseen health expenses in future.
