Home Remedies for Cold and Cough
Cold and cough is a very common disease. Due to this reason, it is also known as common cold. Although, cold and cough affect people of all age groups, it is usually small kids, who are affected more by it. With a weak immune system, kids are more prone to catching cold. As their immune system develops, they are less affected by cold and cough.
Cold and cough are caused due to a number of reasons. It may be caused due to intake of cold food, cold drinks and fried stuff etc. Apart from that, exposure to cold water, along with seasonal changes are some other reasons of cold and cough. Along with exposure to cold weather is also one of the reasons for cold and cough.
The major symptoms of cold and cough are sore throat, congestion, running or blocked nose, sneezing, sleeplessness, low fever with body pain, loss of appetite, lethargy and headache. A person suffering from cold and cough may show some or all of these symptoms. Such a situation is quite bothersome and irritating for the person suffering from cold and cough.
When suffering from cold and cough, apart from the usual medicinal procedures, home remedies can play a very vital role in providing respite to the person suffering from common cold and cough. The following are some of the home remedies for cold and cough:
1. Tulsi and honey syrup
Tulsi is a wonder herb and is excellent for the treatment of cold and cough. For Tulsi and honey syrup, take a few Tulsi leaves and soak them in honey for some time. Now, grind the leaves to make a thin paste. Now, add some honey to it, to form syrup. It can be taken twice a day.
2. Onion and honey syrup
Onion is a wonderful nutrient. Apart from that, it is also, extremely useful in treating phlegm. For onion and honey syrup, chop raw onions into fine pieces and extract juice from it. Take around one tsp of this juice and mix it up with an equal quantity of honey. Keep it for some time. This is an excellent cough syrup. It can be taken thrice a day.
3. Tulsi and black pepper
Tulsi and black pepper can be an excellent remedy for cold and cough. For this take a few Tulsi leaves along with an equal quantity of black pepper. Now grind them to form a thick paste. This paste can be taken twice a day and can prove to be an excellent cure for cough and cold.
4. Onion and lemon syrup
Chop an onion into fine pieces. Now extract the juice out of it. Add a bit of lemon juice to it. You can also add a bit of honey to ease up the strong taste.
